1) Old pre-50’s logged-over sites that are being re-logged
for their 2nd and 3rd growth redwood. Old growth logs that were missed
or left behind by loggers “high-grading” are still being
recovered by our local gyppo loggers.
2) Windfalls and trees that have been undercut by flooding of our
local rivers are deposited on river bars and floated out to sea and
consequently end up on our beaches at storm tides during the heavy
fall rains.
3) Standing “snags” – decades dead, and burnt out
cores of standing old growth are still being discovered and removed
as site-prep for new homes.
4) Recycled timbers salvaged from bridge removal and mill deconstruction.
